A man in his mid 20s has been killed after his motorbike crashed into a roundabout.
The incident occurred on the N81 which leads on to the M50 at around 2.15am on Sunday morning.
The young man was pronounced dead at the scene at Glenview roundabout after the early morning crash.
The latest road death brings the number of people killed in traffic-related incidents to 178 so far this year.
The scene was preserved for a time while garda forensic investigators conducted their investigations.
The road has since reopened.
Meanwhile, a male driver in his late teens was seriously injured in a road traffic accident on the N83 between Dunmore and Tuam near Brownsgrove.
The single vehicle collision occurred at about 3.20am this morning.
The road remains closed and diversions are in place in both directions.
Emergency services are also attending the scene of a road accident in County Limerick.
Initial reports suggest a car and a truck were in collision near Rourke’s Cross shortly after 11am.
The M20 has been closed with diversions in place.
