Apollo House have installed a new "well-being" area for its residents.

The area includes holistic services, a pool table, a hairdressers, with the hope of installing a gym.

“We’ve just started our wellness team which is another volunteer team who provide different treatments,” according to Emily Duffy from Home Sweet Home.

“We’re looking into people’s medical needs and warmth but then we’re looking into holistic services."

Ms Duffy said they are overwhelmed with the level of support from the public.

“We’ve had 2,500 people offer to volunteer and what we’re trying to do now is widen the team out. People have taken up leadership rolls and as that has happened we can expand the teams,” she said.

Home Sweet Home are appealing for people with experience in homeless services to help their support team.

Ms Duffy said that a “massive” part of their donations have been from anonymous donors.

“The pool table was an anonymous donation. That shows that people have seen the homeless with their own eyes and they just want to donate.”

The volunteer team are also hoping to throw a New Year's Eve party for the residents.

“There’s plans coming together for New Years, there might be a few musicians. We have to talk to the residents and see what they want. I think there will be something to mark the occasion.”
