KATHERINE Heigl’s new movie Unforgettable has an unfortunate name because, according to critics and moviegoers, it definitely isn’t unforgettable.

The thriller, which opened over the weekend in the US, is a career worst for the former Grey’s Anatomy actress after it made less than US $5 million at the box office.

Heigl plays a jilted ex-wife who will stop at nothing to get back with her ex-husband with a vigorous obsession and stalking that eventually turns a little murderous.

Rosario Dawson and Geoff Stults star as the happy couple Heigl seeks to destroy.

And, while no one is crazy about the movie as a whole, everyone is crazy about something else — Katherine Heigl is incredible at playing a psychotic, villainous stalker.

The crazy ex girlfriend topic has always been difficult to pull off ever since Glenn Close set the almost unattainable standard in 1987’s Fatal Attraction but Heigl seems to have done it.

Twitter was abuzz with fans praising the actress for her excellent portrayal of a psycho after she’s spent years trying to find her niche in comedy or romantic films.

I'm only minutes in and I'm voting for Katherine Heigl for Best Actress in the 2018 Oscars. #UnforgettableMovie

Vulture wrote in their review that “Heigl is a hell of a lot more entertaining when she’s out for blood andVariety mirrored their sentiment.

“Say what you will about Heigl, but it’s a strange testament to her talent that once you’ve seen her as a villain — one who practically weaponizes her mannequin-worthy physique and wrinkle-free forehead — it will be hard to go back to picturing her as the innocuous girl next door,” they wrote.

Since her controversial exit from Grey’s Anatomy, Heigl has struggled to be a commercially successful actress.

She had a few wins with her rom-coms 27 Dresses and The Ugly Truth but similar movies like The Killers and Life As We Know It didn’t help Heigl’s career..

And, while the box office might not exactly mirror Heigl’s killer performance, there’s no doubt we might be seeing more of her as the villain she was apparently born to play.

Unforgettable is slated for release in Australia on June 22.
