Australian Idol TV show judge Mark Holden.

PERHAPS one of the most peculiar personalities to grace Australian TV, former Australian Idol judge Mark Holden has revealed he’s writing his memoirs.

The autobiography, entitled, My Idol Years, promises to be “startlingly honest, a unique portrait of the music and TV industries and of family and ageing in the public eye.

According to his memoir description, Holden believes he “had a premonition in 2006” he was going to be booted from the show and decided to keep “a revealing record of what happened behind the scenes”.

The former music manager spoke about being unceremoniously dumped from the show in 2009, straight after the fifth season finished.

“I had to tell myself the same thing as I tell artists — it’s business,” Holden said.

“Sometimes, business happens. Sometimes, you are at the winning end of the business. Sometimes, you are not.”

Following his sacking from the singing competition, Holden signed the Victorian Bar roll and is now a practising barrister.

Most recently the former music producer and manager competed in 2014’s Dancing with the Stars competition.

He made headlines on the reality show after making a number of inappropriate comments in a clown costume.

A week later he danced his routine shirtless and with his mouth taped shut but was still voted off the show.

Fellow judge Ian Dickson, better known as Dicko, has also openly criticised the judge over the years claiming he was full of “inane ramblings” and was “trapped in this ridiculous buffoon’s body and mind”.
