Golden Globes 2015: The best moments you missed

WE know who won the awards and who killed it on the red carpet, but some of the best stuff from yesterday’s Golden Globes happened behind the scenes — or on social media.

Here’s some of the most talked about moments you might have missed among the fashion and the acceptance speeches:

Jennifer Lopez’s “Globes”

Jeremy Renner dared to discuss J. Lo’s defined decollatage as the pair presented an award on stage. “You want me to do it? I have the nails,” J-Lo said as she started to rip open the winner’s envelope. “Yeah ... you’ve got the globes, too,” Renner said, staring at her low-cut dress. The off-the-cuff comment drew both the ire of many women and the praise of many men.

Salsa girl

Catherine Zeta-Jones turned up as an emoji. Probably not the look she was going for. Here’s the rest of the red carpet fashion hits and misses.

Hello Heigl

Katherine Heigl was there. Who knew she was still a thing?

Ringing in another year

Harrison Ford’s earring from 2012 was still rocking it, with some suggesting that it was either “his giant mid life crisis” or “the band I’m most looking forward to seeing at Coachella” this year.

Matthew McConaughey’s beard

True Detective might have been snubbed, but McConaughy’s bushy beard was not. It was out in full force. And of course, hilarious tweets ensued:

Close your eyes. Imagine McConaughey's beard gently tickling your face. Start retching. #GoldenGlobes

Mathew McConaughey's beard looks like he was eating a bowl of glue upside down while shaving his pubic hair.

McConaughey's beard is so bad that I just went to the trouble of googling how to spell his last name so I could tweet about it #GoldenGIobes

Taylor ‘no photos’ Swift

USA Today reports while Lorde and Jamie King stayed within arms length of Taylor Swift all night, fans eager to snap a photo of the singer were blocked by her security team and entourage who used their hands to block prying camera phones as she danced the night away.

Stepping up

Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum apparently owned the dance floor by breaking it down on a crowded dance floor to Single Ladies. By all accounts, they did indeed, Step Up.

Prince

He was hard to miss with his blinged-up pimp cane and fro — but Prince’s surprise appearance created the loudest applause of the night.

Oyelowo Streeped

David Oyelowo, who played Martin Luther King, Jr. in the biographical drama film Selma said meeting Meryl Streep was one of the highlights of his life. Oyelowo breathlessly related the tale: “She locked eyes with mine in the (the Golden Globes Ballroom) and said, ‘I have to speak with you.’ She had seen Selma and she had to tell me how much she loved it. I will take that to my grave,” Oyelowo said.

Surprisingly or perhaps unsurprisingly, Chrissy Teigen’s cry face was the most discussed moment on Twitter and Facebook, after her face appeared not to move as she teared up while Legend accepted his award for Best Original Song for Selma. Teigen herself even acknowledged the incident, tweeting:

It's been 5 minutes and I'm a meme

Sorry I don't practice my cry face okay

Props to Tina and Amy

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s monologue was universally praised, bar one joke about Bill Cosby that shocked. Here’s the best lines:

“North Korea referred to The Interview as ‘absolutely intolerable’ and a ‘wanton act of terror.’ Even more amazing: not the worst review the movie got.” - Tina Fey

“In Into the Woods, Cinderella runs from her prince, Rapunzel is thrown from her tower for her prince and Sleeping Beauty just thought she was getting coffee with Bill Cosby.” - Amy Poehler

“Jennifer Aniston is here tonight nominated for the film Cake. We should explain that to the Hollywood people in the room: cake is like a fluffy dessert that people eat on their birthday.” - Amy Poehler

“Steve Carell is here tonight for Foxcatcher. In Foxcatcher, Steve Carell plays a paranoid, murderous billionaire. The role was a stretch for Carell who in real life is a paranoid, murderous millionaire.” - Amy Poehler

But it was this joke that was hailed as the line of the night, taking aim at George Clooney and his very talented wife: “George Clooney married Amal Alamuddin this year. Amal is a human rights lawyer who worked on the Enron case, was an adviser to Kofi Annan regarding Syria and was selected for a three-person UN commission investigating rules of war violations in the Gaza strip. So tonight, her husband is getting a lifetime achievement award.” - Tina Fey

Hot night

By all accounts it was incredibly hot in the room, so much so that Jane Fonda’s boyfriend Richard Perrypassed out. The glow on most of the celebrities faces was sweat rather than pure delight.

Jared Leto’s man braid and the Twitter hashtag which followed created a new wave of hair envy.

Joaquin’s keen appearance

Despite his public slamming of awards shows as “total and utter bullshit”, Joaquin Phoenix was present and enthusiastically waved to hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler after they called him out for it.

Joaquin Phoenix's frantic waving is my new favorite thing. #GoldenGlobes
