THE votes are in, the eskies are packed and barbies are being fired up around the country.
But one thing we won’t be wrapping our lips around for a few hours is the name of the Triple J Hottest 100 winner for 2014.
This year’s countdown, which wasn’t without controversy (lookin’ at you, Tay Tay fans), has been the hottest topic among Aussie music lovers for the past few weeks.

But which song will take out the coveted spot? Will it be Swiftie’s Shake It Off, Peking Duk’s High, Chet Faker’s Talk is Cheap?
We asked two dudes who know their music, Triple J’s very own Matt Okine and Alex Dyson, who they voted for. Here’s who the boys are backing for the win.
1) Who did you vote for to take out the No. 1 spot?
Matt: Peking Duk, High. This song never fails to pick me up. It has become a mandatory listen before every one of my gigs in 2014, and I don’t see much changing for 2015.
Alex: Mr Little Jeans, Good Mistake. She’s a Norwegian artist who just keeps bringing out infectious understated dancey singles. The high-hats in this one are da bizniss.

2) Who’s your favourite new artist or band of the year?
Matt: He’s been on the scene now for years, but Briggs came out with an absolutely cracking new album last year and it took him to a new level. I’m sure I’m not the only one who saw the big man in a new light in 2014.
Alex: Kim Churchill probably. I say new because he’s blown up this past year, but the dude’s released four albums already at the ripe old age of 24, and his latest Silence/Win is fantastic. I voted for Window to the Sky but could have picked two or three others.

3) What’s the most Aussie way to spend Australia Day?
Matt: To be honest, announcing the top 20 songs in one of the world’s biggest radio events is a pretty sweet way to be spending Australia Day. I’m pumped.
Alex: Some sort of grilled food stuff. Plenty of SPF. An audio device with access to Triple I. A water source, and an ample supply of great mates. Add southern cross tattoos to taste.
Triple J’s Hottest 100 Countdown kicks off at midday AEDT. Matt and Alex will be hosting the final leg, counting down from 20 — 1.
