Overnight sensation and bona fide ‘It Girl’ Gigi Hadid named Model of the Year

GIGI Hadid was named Model Of The Year at the first ever Daily Front Row Fashion Awards night in Los Angeles this week and left no one guessing why.

The stunning blonde stepped out on the red carpet with on-again Aussie boyfriend Cody Simpson, 18, in a form fitting coral one shoulder gown.

The 19-year-old has had a whirlwind year going from typical Californian teenager to working model living New York, working the cameras for Tom Ford and Chanel.

This past year she landed a major Guess campaign and was recently named the new face of Maybelline, joining the ranks of model elite Jourdan Dunn, Adriana Lim and Christy Turlington.

Singer Cody Simpson was on hand for support, looking laid-back in jeans, an untucked blue shirt, a leather jacket and of course his signature wide brimmed hat.

Simpson and Hadid started dating in 2013 before a brief break up in May 2014. They reportedly got back together in November 2014.

“I think that it’s nice when someone can go and look more exotic and do the girl-next-door thing, as well. It goes with the whole high fashion versus commercial thing that’s big right now. I think that perhaps people like me because I’ve been doing both,” Gigi told Style.com when asked why she thinks she scooped the award.

The Daily Front Row Fashion Los Angeles Awards took place at the Sunset Tower Hotel and honour fashion’s contributions to Los Angeles. Attendees included Jeremy Scott, who was awarded Designer of the Year and Christian Louboutin for Shoe Designer of the Year.
