NEWS that Josh Goot has become the latest victim of the cutthroat rag trade shocked the local fashion industry, but Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival has confirmed his highly anticipated stand alone show will go ahead in March.
Goot announced on Monday that he has entered into voluntary administration blaming “external factors” including a strong Australian Dollar and an influx of international brands.

VAMFF CEO, Graeme Lewsey, said the designer called him ahead of announcing his decision to put his eponymous label into voluntary administration, and that the festival would continue to support the acclaimed designer.
“We started discussions with Josh six months ago to hold a stand alone show on the basis that he is one of our country’s most innovative designers and that we should celebrate his decade in the industry,” he said.
“Of course the show will go on; the festival is here to maximise opportunity for Australian brands and rally the consumers to buy local labels. We will be acknowledging Goot’s innovation in the industry and celebrating the man and the talent behind the label.”

It is understood that while Goot works with administrators it will be business as usual for the celebrated designer whose fans include Miranda Kerr and Kim Kardashian. His autumn/winter collection will be arriving into stores in March, while design and production is under way for his spring/summer collection.
