OASIS rocker Liam Gallagher is being accused of “dodging and disrespecting” the US legal system after he failed to appear at another court hearing for his two-year-old daughter, Gemma, whom he has never seen.

The Wonderwall singer was due to appear for a child-support hearing with Gemma’s mother, journalist Liza Ghorbani, in New York on January 12.

But he didn’t show up, claiming in a doctor’s note that he was “anxious and depressed,” and was fined $US5,000 ($6,100) by Justice Laura Drager.

Gallagher’s lawyer, Raoul Felder, told MailOnline after the hearing, “We believed that the case was resolved on an extremely generous basis to the lady [Ghorbani] until we got to court, when she apparently received advice from others that prevented this.

“Liam always wanted to be more than fair and has always accepted responsibility for the child. The lady and her advisers have not allowed this to happen.”

This comment infuriated Liza’s father, Danny Ghorbani, who was at the hearing and now says “I can no longer maintain my silence”.

He told the New York Post, “Mr Gallagher has been given every opportunity to do the right thing by my granddaughter. He has had plenty of time to do so voluntarily, but unfortunately, he has failed. Instead, Mr Gallagher’s adviser continues to spread misinformation ... Blaming our side for the lack of settlement while knowing full well that they are the ones who are continually delaying.

“If Mr Gallagher had ‘always accepted responsibility’ for Gemma, as his adviser has falsely asserted, there would not have been any need for legal action to begin with.

“That said, no matter how long it takes, we will do whatever is necessary to ensure that Mr. Gallagher will be a responsible father to Gemma.”

He continued, “The American legal system, that Mr Gallagher continues to dodge and disrespect, in my opinion, will now step in to assure that Gemma has all the same rights that a child with her father’s abilities deserves.”

Gallagher began paying court-ordered temporary child support after Liza Ghorbani sued him in 2013.

His attorney Felder said on Monday night, “On the Friday before the hearing, I believed we had a deal. I was preparing to tell the judge there was a settlement, but when I got to court, there was no deal and a letter demanding new terms.”

He said Gallagher “has met every required payment, and continued to make payments when it was thrown out of family court ... so how bad a guy can he be?”

Mr Ghorbani, a retired DC-based housing executive, responded with, “Unfortunately Mr Felder’s memory is failing him because he’s not mentioning anything about the letter he received from Liza’s attorney, in response to their latest offer, which was on the Thursday prior to the said Friday he is referring to.

“We’re not interested in he-said/she-said about Mr Gallagher meeting temporary minimum payments established by the court.

“Our main concern has been and will continue to be Gemma’s upbringing, which must be in full accordance with Mr. Gallagher’s abilities. The sooner this happens, the sooner this matter will be resolved.”
