THE widow of the man Jennifer Aniston recently called ‘the one’ has ripped into the actor suggesting that her comments are all about her Oscars campaign.

Mujah Maraini-Melehi, who was married actor Daniel McDonald and had two children with, says the former Friends star showed no concern for McDonald while he was battle brain cancer. He died in 2007.

Aniston recently told the New York Times that McDonald, who she dated for five years in the 90s “would have been ‘the one’ but I was 25 and I was stupid.”

“He must have sent me (fiance) Justin (Theroux) to make up for it all,” she said.

Ms Maraini-Melehi took to Facebook to rip into Aniston, suggesting that her comments were all about getting publicity leading up to today’s Oscar nominations — in which Aniston was one of the surprise omissions.

“Why now? I wonder. After decades of stardom, she is media savvy enough to know that any casual comment she makes becomes front page tabloid news,” she said. “Jennifer Aniston is Jennifer Aniston, and that means that anything that she says about her love life to any journalist, even someone as reputable as New York Times’ Frank Bruni, will be later dissected and exploited.

“It pains me to read the headlines that allude to her losing him tragically when she was not present during his long and difficult illness,” she said. “(McDonald) would not approve of all this uninvited attention.”

“I know how much Daniel cared about her, and how protective he was of her. That was part of what I loved about him,” she said. “I remember how journalists often called our home to ask Daniel for information about Jennifer, and being the gentleman that he was, he would always decline to comment on anything at all. I imagine he would be appalled to be caught up in this media circus.”

Ms Maraini-Melehi said she sent Aniston a message after McDonald’s death to see if she wanted any photos of the two of them together but she never responded.
