LENA Dunham has enthused about her close friend Taylor Swift, calling her “a woman in control” and praising her for not using sex to sell her pop.
The Girls creator made the comments in the new issue of Time Out New York where she also appears on the cover next to the headline, “Queen of Pop”.
She said of Swift: “Her image is as a woman in control and as a woman in power, but it’s also somewhat clean-cut… She’s one of the pop artists who noticeably isn’t trafficking in her own sexuality.”

Swift and Dunham, who is less averse to flaunting her sexuality, have been friends for the last two years since connecting on Twitter. They have been seen hanging out casually as well as at formal events, including last week’s Golden Globes.
Dunham told the magazine that Swift, who is riding high after scoring the highest-selling album of 2014, had shown appreciation for her TV work despite it being noticeably more provocative.

“She’s really comfortable supporting what I do and saying why she thinks it can also have the power to speak to women,” she said.
Swift is currently the hottest property in pop with her album 1989 selling more than 700,000 copies in its first two days of release.
